Y Villa: A Poetic Dwelling for Three Generations

A Customized Private Residence in Yinchuan, China

The nature of the architecture is to realize 'poetic dwelling'. Y Villa, designed by Pan Jun, embodies the concept of simplicity and beauty through its progressive sense of space and symmetrical structure. This individual house for a three-generation family showcases the perfect expression of the design concept - 'simplicity is the most beautiful'.

This villa, located in Yinchuan, Ningxia of China, stands out as a unique private residence. Pan Jun, the designer, took a people-oriented approach, focusing on the overall style and humanistic feelings. By simplifying the interior and abandoning traditional complicated decorations, the design prioritizes functional demands, space utilization, and people's experiences.

The aesthetics of modern simplicity are evident in Y Villa, with its clear white surfaces and wooden furniture that enrich the spatial emotion and add warmth to the space. Italian modern classic furniture perfectly complements the different functional areas, creating a harmonious blend of style and functionality.

The design of Y Villa emphasizes public areas for family communication and guest reception. These spaces include the living room, tearoom, Chinese and Western kitchen, restaurant, and chess and card room. Through simple and clear design techniques, the architecture's original beauty of simplicity and elegance is fully showcased. Each space is designed based on its nature and function, creating a comfortable and relaxing environment.

One of the highlights of Y Villa is the independent kitchen and restaurant on the fourth floor, which features a skylight that brings in natural light. This unique feature allows the family to enjoy the sunshine and the starry sky together, adding a sense of warmth and imagination to the living space.

Completed in October 2018, Y Villa is a testament to the designer's meticulous research and attention to detail. The surface design utilizes simple materials without excessive decoration, reflecting the notion that a residence is meant to be lived in, not exhibited. The interior walls are covered in exterior wall coating materials, further enhancing the simplicity and functionality of the design.

Y Villa presents its own set of challenges, including the integration of elevators and the creation of private and independent living spaces for the three generations while maintaining shared public areas. Despite these challenges, the design successfully achieves a harmonious balance between privacy and communal living.

Y Villa, designed by Pan Jun and brought to life by SUNSON Design, has been recognized for its excellence. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is a testament to the well-designed, practical, and innovative nature of Y Villa, which meets professional and industrial requirements while contributing to a better world.
